The fourth annual Walk ‘n Wag fundraiser for Lake Sammamish State Park just north of Issaquah is happening Sunday, April 28, 2019, from 11AM to 3PM. That means you and your canine best friends can either go for a stroll through the 512-acre park, or participate more formally in the canine events. They include a 3-kilometer dog walk and agility course, a dog-friendly beer garden with live music by Whalien, exhibitions, and demonstrations.
There’s also a judged pet show for the second year in the event’s history, and the categories are a lot more egalitarian than more established pet shows. Any dog could win in the best dressed or best trick categories, although the competition may be stiff in others, like smallest dog, nicest eyes, ugliest dog, best voice or dog/owner look alike.
There’ll be a professional pet photographer on hand if you want to memorialize your visit—or your dog’s outfit. Pet portraits are cash only ($20).
Early bird registration (prior to April 24) is $10 for children 15 and under; $15 for adults. After April 24, $20 for adults and $15 for children. You can register here or in person on the day of the event. All dogs must be leashed.
But stop by Sound Ford near Renton, Washington, before you go to make sure you and your friend arrive in style. Perhaps you’d like to drive there in a 2018 Ford Focus SE? It’s got plenty of room for your pup and has a backup camera, so you can be sure they are not behind you if you’re leaving them at home. Hurry in today!
