Used F150 Seattle History
No vehicle - except perhaps the Mustang - captures the essence of the Ford brand more than the F-150. This pick-up performer has become a staple of North American backroads alike, aiding drivers in their quests to work hard and play harder.
In 1948 Ford introduced consumers to the F-Series: the F-1 (a half-ton model), the F-2 (a quarter-ton model) and the F-3 (a heavy-duty model). These trucks would lay the foundation for the F-150, with each decade propelling them toward superior engines, enhanced towing capabilities and rugged chassis designs. They each proved a success, offering decidedly blue-collar sensibilities and appealing to the North American labor force.
This would later spur the creation of the F-150, a dedicated workman’s pick-up. In 1975 this model - with its straight-six engine and extended cab - provided the necessary power to survive even the harshest environments. It was unlike any other truck on the market.
And it remains that way today.
The Ford F-150 reigns supreme among the North American charts, having achieved over 1,125,000 unit sales in 2015 alone.

Notable Features
Becoming the world’s top-selling full-size truck is no easy task. Ford’s innovative features, however, have left the F-150’s competitors in the dust:
Air Conditioning: in 1975 air conditioning was a rare luxury. Only the top brands offered it and even they limited it to their premium models, wishing to keep it an exclusive feature. A pick-up, therefore, proved an unlikely choice for ventilation - but the F-150 had it, connecting drivers to the comfort they deserved.
Power Technology: the F-150 introduced drivers to power technology (specifically power windows, power mirrors and power door locks). It was both the first Ford and one of the first pick-ups to do this.
Aluminum Materials: steel is the traditional material for pick-ups. Ford, however, saw this as a limitation, with the heavy weights and complicated construction affecting both performance and price. To solve this issue it fused the F-150 with aluminum, removing over 500 pounds and streamlining production.
The F-150 has transformed the North American market.
Awards
Few pick-ups boast the history of the F-150. Fewer still boast the critical acclaim. This Ford staple has earned many awards during its long life, including:
Auto World Magazine’s Best New Truck: 2005
Car and Driver’s Best Pick-Up: 2008
Motor Trend'sTruck of the Year: 2009
Consumer Guide’s Best Buy: 2011
Kelley Blue Book’s Best Truck: 2015
None can deny the importance of the F-150. It’s on this full-size frame that Ford built its empire.
