My buddies and I are looking to head out on a road trip this summer and I’m thinking this is a good excuse to upgrade my ride. I’ve read up on Ford’s Hill Descent Control and it sounds like a cool feature. I’m wondering if it’s available on the 2019 Explorer?
Thanks for your question, Jim! Yes, indeed, Hill Descent Control is available on the 2019 Ford Explorer when you choose a model equipped with the Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System, which is designed for seamless confidence on all types of road surfaces.
With Hill Descent Control, you’ll love the Explorer’s ability to tackle steep grades and inclines by maintaining a set and constant speed as you traverse your way down. Instead of having to concentrate on braking or downshifting the transmission, let the system do the work for you – just activate Hill Descent Control by pressing the center button on the Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System and focus on your steering. The feature will maintain a vehicle speed between 2 and 12 mph as you travel down the incline. If you go above 20 mph, the system will stay activated, but the descent speed will reset once you get below 20 mph again.
