Ford News For Seattle, Tacoma, and Bellevue Washington
After two days of harsh off-road conditions and on-road handling, the 2017 F-150 Raptor came out on top, scoring the highest truck honors in the Northwest Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year Mudfest.

The awards weren't handed out lightly; nearly thirty members of the Northwest Automotive Press Association at Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington, tested the contenders to determine which deserved accolades. In total, 27 crossover and sport utility vehicles participated in the Mudfest in premium compact, family, pickups, premium, compact and extreme capability segments. With its 3.5L V6 engine, 450 horsepower and 8,000-pound towing capacity, it's no surprise that the Raptor performed as well as it did.

“The pickups category was extremely tough this year,” Tuan Huynh, the event chair of the NWAPA Mudfest, Northwest Automotive Press Association, said. “Ford F-150 Raptor won the hearts of our members for its prowess both on-road and off over two days of rigorous testing.” Watch more in the video below!

This win is one of many the Raptor's picked up this year; recently, it was dubbed Pickup Truck of the Year by FOUR WHEELER and Best Pickup for 2017 by Cars.com.

The 2018 F-150 takes cues from its predecessors, but make no mistake - this all-new pickup is in a class all its own. The truck elevates the signature F-Series aesthetic without compromising its sheer power and high-quality parts.

From the outside, the F-150 pays tribute to the Built Ford Tough brand promise while paving the way for a modernized look and feel. Designers for the Blue Oval narrowed down the exterior to a trifecta of primary concepts: comprehending F-Series design heritage, keeping customers' needs and desires top-of-mind, and craftsmanship. “We call our F-Series customers ‘bold guardians of the brand,’” Ford truck design chief Gordon Platto said. “These customers know our Built Ford Tough DNA, and they want their trucks to convey strength, capability, boldness and power – without being ‘in your face’ aggressive.”

Along with the new 2018 F-150’s stronger engine lineup, high-strength materials and class-exclusive technologies, its new exterior is sure to please drivers. The Blue Oval can claim that with certainty: in efforts to ensure that the new truck truly exceeds expectations, Ford's team tapped actual owners during the design process to get a greater grasp on how the vehicle is used nationwide. By fielding buyers' unfiltered feedback, they were able to hit the drawing board with more refined and validated design concepts, such as a light-duty turboiesel engine, fuel economy improvements and pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection.

Graduation season is underway, which means that parents across the nation are flocking to dealerships for the quintessential celebratory gift: a brand new car. If you're looking for the perfect one for your minted graduate, consider one of the sporty coupes from Ford's lineup; according to New Vehicle Customer Study data from MaritzCX, the Blue Oval's niche attracts younger customers overall.

The Fiesta ST, in particular, is popular with the millennial bunch. Although the average age of new buyers hovers around 45 years, the hatchback entices a crowd roughly ten years its junior. Similar patterns emerge with the Focus/Focus RS and Fusion/Fusion Sport, respectively. Watch more below!

As a result, sales of sports cars have climbed by 45 percent in the first three months of 2017 alone. Given the nationwide surge of SUV and crossover purchases, this skew towards hot hatchbacks is out of the ordinary - but the Blue Oval has no complaints.

“...Capturing younger buyers while they still have many vehicle purchases remaining in their lives is good for business,” Corey Holter, Ford's car group marketing manager, said of the growing trend.

Also worth noting? Millennial drivers aren't strapped for cash. For example, the average household income for a Fiesta buyer is $59,000, but for the ST model, the HHI leaps to $102,000.

The month of April was especially friendly to the Ford China team. Reports show that approximately 94,000 vehicles were sold, only a stone's throw shy of a six-digit victory; the profits come out to an 11-percent increase year-over-year as well.

Branches of the Blue Oval, Changan Ford Automobile (CAF) and Jiangling Motor Corporation, separately yielded notable gains during the time frame, contributing to the large numbers overall:

  • Changan Ford Automobile: 62,000 vehicles sold / 6-percent increase
  • Jiangling Motor Corporation: 25,000+ vehicles sold / 15-percent increase
The brand's sales of sedans also played a role in overall profits, with a tip of the hat to the Escort, all-new Focus and Mondeo, and Taurus. However, SUVs continued to reign supreme amongst buyers, who favored the EcoSport, Kuga, EdgeEverest and Explorer. The Edge, in particular, stood out with a 19-percent boost - watch it in action below:

“...Sales bounced back strongly in April in China with gains across our lineup. The overall market remains strong and we expect to gain momentum as the year continues as we launch new products and new models to our existing lineup,” said Peter Fleet, Ford’s Vice President of Marketing and Service for Asia Pacific.

The two largest trucks in Ford's lineup are offered in straight-frame, kick-up frame Pro Loader and exclusive tractor models, with Regular Cab,
SuperCab and Crew Cab body styles. The Blue Oval also stands out as the only manufacturer to make the choice of gasoline or diesel powertrain in the medium-duty conventional market an option.

“Our segment-exclusive gasoline engine is appealing to fleet managers who recognize not every duty cycle requires the torque of a diesel engine, and who prefer the cost and maintenance advantages of gasoline power,” Kevin Koester, Ford's medium-duty

2017 ford f-250 seattle washingtonRecognition from one auto authority is commendable, but how many brands can say they've received two accolades simultaneously? The Blue Oval team can, as of late. After filtering out segment contenders from Nissan, Ram and General Motors, experts from PickupTrucks.com and Cars.com dubbed the 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty King Ranch pickup the “Best Premium Three-quarter Ton Pickup of 2017."

The award is impressive, but not surprising. The re-engineered 2017 Super Duty trucks have been highlighted in the media recently, thanks to their combination of luxury and sheer power.

“Like a great all-around athlete, the new Ford F-250 King Ranch has the powertrain of a bulldozer, and the interior features and technology of a luxury hotel room,” Mark Williams, a pickup truck expert at Cars.com, said.

To seal its status, the F-250 endured various evaluations and tests to measure its payload and towing capacity, braking and acceleration, comfort, and more. According to Ford's truck group marketing manager, Todd Eckert, the F-250's prevalence demonstrates its lasting influence in the three-quarter ton segment.

With 214,695 vehicles sold, Ford Motor Company capped off the month of April with strong wins across the board. SUVs stood out with gains across multiple model categories - a testament to consumers' rising demand for vehicles that can handle varying terrain and haul heavy.

“Strong demand for high-series Super Duty trucks and diesel powertrains drove a $1,900 increase in Ford’s transaction pricing versus an industry increase of just $210," Mark LaNeve, Ford's Vice President of U.S. Marketing,
Sales and Service, said of the spike.

Sales for the Ford Escape were up 7 percent in April, with 25,637 purchased; the Ford Expedition performed even better, with sales up 13 percentage points and 5,116 driven off the lots. The 2018 Expedition is available starting this fall, so its debut will be on the heels of strong numbers from the earlier months. Learn more about the Escape in the video below:

Meanwhile, the Ford Edge posted a six-percent gain, with lots selling 12,147 vehicles. Overall, Ford brand SUVs totaled 67,309 sales - a new April record.
