The brand new F-150's fenders and chamfered nose are only a couple of the enticing features that make their debut in Ford's latest model. The truck is already making waves, although its introduction isn't until later this year.

At its core, reliability
and capability - two traits that epitomize the F-Series brand in general - are king for the 2018 F-150.

“Form and function
matters to Ford truck customers,” Gordon Platto, a Ford truck designer, said. “...Ford trucks need to be purpose-built for work and instill confidence among those who use them.” Watch more below:

In our previous article, we touched upon some of the front- and profile-view features that stand out; the rear side, though, is not something to overlook. Mirroring the other end, it sports a billet-milled treatment around the tailgate and fenders for enhanced illumination; however, nameplates to go with given trucks' trim levels replace the F-150 badge. Elements like that serve to upgrade the buying experience. After all, the customers are truly right at the end of the day.

“When we are designing F-150, we really look at the truck through the eyes of our customers,” Sean Tant, Ford truck studio's design manager, said.

At a glance, the all-new truck's exterior is impressive in itself. A billet-milled body sets the F-150 apart from previous models, while a horizontal twin-bar grille highlights its width, muscularity and power. The grille is also illuminated by LED C-clamp headlamps, a feature that is only one of many Blue Oval innovations.

“F-150 needs to look solid, confident and capable,” Sean Tant, Ford's truck studio design manager, said. “All design elements need to have individual as well as collective strength. We wanted to continue with the billet-milled style introduced in 2015 while visually making the truck look wide and planted.” Watch more below:

A side view, though, brings to mind visual recognition of other trucks from the F-Series. Front door drop-downs, tire proportions and wheel openings hint at borrowed elements, while traditional frame-mounted bumpers and limited fascias allude to customers' consistent desire for genuine and practical vehicles.

The details don't stop there. Stay tuned to learn more about the F-150!
The 2018 F-150 takes cues from its predecessors, but make no mistake - this all-new pickup is in a class all its own. The truck elevates the signature F-Series aesthetic without compromising its sheer power and high-quality parts.

From the outside, the F-150 pays tribute to the Built Ford Tough brand promise while paving the way for a modernized look and feel. Designers for the Blue Oval narrowed down the exterior to a trifecta of primary concepts: comprehending F-Series design heritage, keeping customers' needs and desires top-of-mind, and craftsmanship. “We call our F-Series customers ‘bold guardians of the brand,’” Ford truck design chief Gordon Platto said. “These customers know our Built Ford Tough DNA, and they want their trucks to convey strength, capability, boldness and power – without being ‘in your face’ aggressive.”

Along with the new 2018 F-150’s stronger engine lineup, high-strength materials and class-exclusive technologies, its new exterior is sure to please drivers. The Blue Oval can claim that with certainty: in efforts to ensure that the new truck truly exceeds expectations, Ford's team tapped actual owners during the design process to get a greater grasp on how the vehicle is used nationwide. By fielding buyers' unfiltered feedback, they were able to hit the drawing board with more refined and validated design concepts, such as a light-duty turboiesel engine, fuel economy improvements and pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection.
