Back in 2014, Ford Motor Company combined its Special Vehicle Team (SVT), Team RS (the European division of performance and motorsports for racing activity) and Ford Racing into an organization called Ford Performance. The purpose of this merger was to take the developments from the racing track and utilize them in Ford’s performance vehicle consumer line-up, and anticipating a total of 12 brand-new performance vehicles released by 2020.
And boy howdy, have the last two years shown the brilliancy behind the creation of Ford Performance. The commitment to innovation through performance so far resulted in the release of the Ford Focus RS on a global scale (the 2017 model is already sold out worldwide), and both the 2017 Ford Shelby GT350 and 2017 Ford 350R Mustang have already sold out completely.
Take a look at Ford’s ST lineup too. As of the inception of Ford Performance, more than 65 percent of ST customers in the United States came from outside the Ford brand. And Ford has certainly caught the eye of the younger generation, with Millennials purchasing ST vehicles at more than double that of other Ford-branded vehicles.
We’re excited to see what Ford Performance has in the works for the coming years. There will be a lot of engine revving going on!
