With 214,695 vehicles sold, Ford Motor Company capped off the month of April with strong wins across the board. SUVs stood out with gains across multiple model categories - a testament to consumers' rising demand for vehicles that can handle varying terrain and haul heavy.
“Strong demand for high-series Super Duty trucks and diesel powertrains drove a $1,900 increase in Ford’s transaction pricing versus an industry increase of just $210," Mark LaNeve, Ford's Vice President of U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service, said of the spike.
Sales for the Ford Escape were up 7 percent in April, with 25,637 purchased; the Ford Expedition performed even better, with sales up 13 percentage points and 5,116 driven off the lots. Meanwhile, the Ford Edge posted a six-percent gain, with lots selling 12,147 vehicles. Overall, Ford brand SUVs totaled 67,309 sales - a new April record.
