Every driver's nightmare will soon be a fear of the past. As part of its revolutionary autonomous driving technology, the team at Ford recently announced a new wave of technologies that is slated to define the future of driving. Notably, the rollout of cross-traffic alerts will provide drivers with the confidence and assurance to drive in reverse, knowing that there is nobody at risk of injury behind the vehicle. Take a closer look at Ford's plans for the future by watching the video below:
Ford's value of safety and affinity for innovation resulted in the creation of the cross-traffic alerts. Although the technology is still in development, the plans are already generating excitement. According to Engadget.com, "cross-traffic alerts will detect objects that are about to pass behind the vehicle while reversing and alert the driver with a warning sound and a wide-angle view on the backup camera. If the driver still doesn't respond, the car will automatically brake to avoid a fender bender." Additionally, the automaker stated that an upgraded pushbutton parking system will allow vehicles to parallel park and back into a perpendicular space - without driver assistance.
With this new technology, drivers of all skill levels can rest - and drive - assured that the inherent risks associated with operating a vehicle will be significantly less threatening.
