Representatives for Ford reported a solid third quarter, bolstered by its notable sales growth of 13.6% in China.

The Blue Oval is moving into the last quarter of 2016 on firm ground, thanks in part to its joint venture with Changan Ford (CAF) and JIangling Motors Corporation (JMC). A range of Ford cars and SUVs are built and sold by CAF, many of which are recognizable models from the international product portfolio that Ford offers. For Ford-brand commercial vehicles like Transit vans and midsize Ranger pickups, in addition to a Ranger-
esque SUV dubbed the Everest, JMC takes the helm. However, although the two joint venture companies take the lion's share of Ford's presence in China, other vehicles are imported into the country for sale as well.

Crossover SUVs and small sedans are notable winners in China coming out of quarter three. Ford records indicate that the Edge, which is offered both in a long-wheelbase seven-passenger version as well as a standard five-passenger version, are doing well - sales were up 93% in October and the larger Explorer gained 30% during the same month. Watch the 2016 Edge in action in the video below:

The Ford Focus sedan was also a favorite amongst buyers, and currently stands as one of China's best-selling vehicles. It takes the spotlight next to the Escort, which is a lower-cost compact sedan that is unique to China's buyers. John Rosevear, from Fool.com, reports that sales for both vehicles rose 15% and 34%, respectively, last month. Not to be outdone, Ford's line of commercial vehicles are also performing well in China, and Mustang sales are also up 60% from the past year.

The victories of quarter three reflect Ford's greater feat -- October represents the fourth month, consecutively, that Ford is reporting a strong year-over-year sales gain in China. To test-drive any of the aforementioned vehicles and more, visit Sound Ford in Seattle, Washington today.
