Kangaroo-mor has it that the new Ford Bronco, which is projected to hit the streets by 2020, will be Australian-made.

Although Ford Motor Company put manufacturing at its Australian operations on halt this year, shifting its focus to vehicle development, reports from UAW sources recently suggested that the Australian division will come back on board to produce both the new Bronco and an all-new, small Ranger pickup.

As of now, a version of the Ranger that was produced in Ford's Australian division is sold in markets outside of the United States. Since there is a high likelihood that the new trucks will be constructed on a revamped and improved version of that platform, it makes sense for the updated Bronco to live under that umbrella as well. Knowledge about the details surrounding the new Bronco is minimal at this point, but sources predict that the new SUV will emulate traits of the compact original instead of the larger versions that showed up afterward - more Ranger, less F-150. See the Bronco on the roads in Autoblog's video below:

Even more exciting for off-road enthusiasts, there is also talk that a
roughstock version of the Bronco is in the works. According to FoxNews.com, Ford's chief performance engineer, Jamal Hameedi, took a trip down under last year to discuss the potential for a high-performance Ranger Raptor pickup. Since the Bronco was the Blue Oval's original off-road vehicle, and an established contender in desert races, it's only a matter of time before a roughstock version of the Bronco pulls into the lineup. Further support for that claim is manifested in the form of Vaugh Gittin, Jr.'s classic Bronco-styled racing buggy that was recently unveiled as well; the custom vehicle will make its debut when Gittin, Jr. goes for top prize in 2017's King of the Hammers off-road race.
