Within Detroit’s famed Cobo Center - a series of convention halls and golden spotlights - is a stage. There drivers at the North American International Auto Show gather, waiting to see the latest innovations and all-wheel powerhouses. With every hour comes a new vehicle to admire.

None, however, can eclipse the promise of the Ford Ranger.

According to Yahoo News, Ford recently offered Auto Show guests a glimpse of the future - announcing the return of its much-adored Ranger. In 2019 this platform (which was originally discontinued in 2011) will enter production, providing drivers with the compact wheelbase and four-wheel maneuverability they crave. The truck will serve as a counterpoint to the Super Duty.

With the arrival of a new Ranger, Detroit crowds cried out in celebration. This pick-up has proven popular - even after being removed from Ford’s assembly lines. Expectations are now high, with drivers already debating potential specs (Auto Revolution recently joined that debate, hinting at the possibilities of a 3.0L PowerStroke V6 engine and a Duratorq diesel alternative. Both could deliver more than 185 HP and 350 lb.-ft of torque).

While the Sound Ford team is sad to reveal that no official powertrain capabilities have been revealed, we do believe that the Ranger will share considerable similarities to its F-150 cousin - making it a true performer on the road.
