Ford Focus Electric seattle washingtonIn response to inquiries regarding Ford Motor Company’s place in the world of vehicle electrification, CEO Mark Fields announced earlier this year that, in addition to upgrading the charge time and distance range of the Ford Focus Electric, the company has plans to develop a 200-mile range electric vehicle.

Following the launch of a new generation of the Ford Focus in 2019, the company intends to begin manufacturing what will likely be dubbed the Ford Model E, as evidenced by a pending trademark application.

Expectations are that the Model E will be available as a solely electric car, as well as a traditional and plug-in hybrid. In fact, industry leaders believe the announcement that Ford intends to have 13 electrified vehicles in their line up by 2020 means that electrified options for many of their already popular models will be available. However, there has been no official announcement as to these details.

As Ford works to position itself as an industry leader in virtually all transportation sectors, it’s no surprise that the development of this electrified car is in the works. Fans of the Ford brand who are looking for conservation options certainly have something to look forward to.
