2018 Ford GTClocking in at a high speed of 216 mph, the all-new Ford GT recently sealed in its status as the fastest Ford production vehicle ever to grace the track. Combining its impressive power with high-achieving aerodynamics and upgraded active dynamics, the GT's engine is able to produce the highest output of any EcoBoost® production engine.

Given its status as a paragon of speed and efficiency, the Blue Oval's new supercar was unsurprisingly crafted for racing. Preliminary testing at Calabogie Motorsports Park in Canada confirmed what Ford's designers strived to achieve: neither the McLaren 675LT, nor the Ferrari 458 Speciale was able to hold a candle to the GT, despite being prepped with fresh fluids, tires and other optimized components.

According to the final numbers, the GT crossed the finish line at 2:09.8, a full second earlier than the McLaren 675LT and more than three seconds faster than the Ferrari 458 Speciale.

“Our expectation has always been that the EcoBoost V6 would perform exceptionally well in the Ford GT – both in terms of power as well as aerodynamic efficiency,” Dave Pericak, the global director of Ford Performance, said. “We tested and developed this powertrain through the Daytona Prototype race car that ran in IMSA for two seasons, last season racing with Ford GT. We are extremely pleased with how it performs, both on the track and on the road.”

The GT's carbon-fiber architecture helped ensure that its dry weight - just over 3,000 pounds - was a happy medium between those of its competitors. Additionally, its active dynamics system optimizes the GT's downforce, balance and drag, regardless of speed. Learn more about the new GT and all of its offerings at Sound Ford in Seattle, Washington!
