Year after year, Ford F-Series pickups are the domestic vehicles most likely to be stolen in the U.S. While they come in third overall, behind the Honda Accord and Civic, a whopping 32,721 model year 2006 Ford pickups were stolen in 2016. The statistics are provided by the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
Older F-Series models tend to be stolen more often than newer ones not only because anti-theft technology is better on newer vehicles, but also because older models have high value for parts resale—especially catalytic converters and airbags.
In Canada, those statistics are even more striking. Nine out of the 10 most frequently stolen vehicles are Ford F-Series models. Here’s the list of most-stolen vehicles in Canada in 2018 according to the Insurance Bureau of Canada:
