For a long time, the Ford Explorer has been a staple in the SUV category. Most people can pick out an Explorer if they see it approaching from a few blocks away. But even though the Explorer has such noticeable lineage, it doesn't mean that the vehicle is incapable of innovation.
When Ford released the 2013 Explorer, many car enthusiasts took note. It proved to be that the next generation was a well-valued modern twist on Ford’s classic design.
2013 was the year when many Ford enthusiasts finally put the truck-like notions of the previous decade to rest. For this Explorer, less emphasis was placed on creating a hard-nosed, rugged appeal. Instead, the designers focused on family-friendly versatility, comfort, and style. Handling was better than ever, gas mileage improved, interior features increased — utility was not lost.
Standard engines of the 2013 Explorer come with a 3.5-liter V6 that puts out 290 horsepower and 255 lb-ft. of torque. This strikes a fine balance for those who enjoy the power and pull of previous Explorer iterations but still needed something to accommodate their growing family's needs. For the more gas-conscious driver, Ford also designed a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder model with 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. This option receives an EPA-estimated rating of 20/28 mpg city/highway. And for those that wanted the rugged, hard-nosed SUV of the past, Ford also offers an extreme twin-turbo V6 Sport trim which rates up to 350-horsepower.
Every trims’ interior is comfortable, spacious, and loaded with useful technology features. Some options found in pre-owned Explorers are things like power windows, locks, and mirrors; cruise control; steering-wheel audio controls; an AM/FM/CD player with auxiliary jack; satellite radio; a sport-shift mode for the automatic transmission; and reverse parking sensors.
The Explorer also has immense capacity capabilities, with 81 cubic feet of cargo volume ready for drivers to take advantage of. Even with the seats still in place, the Explorer retains 21 cubic feet of cargo room for drivers to utilize in their daily lives.
Visit Sound Ford, Seattle, and we’ll show you why the 2013 Ford Explorer is such a compelling choice for buyers in the used SUV market.

If you’re seeking style, adventure, and technology with an affordable price tag, then look no further than a pre-owned 2015 Ford Focus. This super sedan will exceed all of your expectations without breaking the bank. Read on to discover why you should consider a used model for your next car.
A review by KBB.com lauds the vehicle’s “sleek aerodynamic look, raked windshield, and tastefully flared fenders”, saying that these features give the economy car an expensive look. If you think the Focus looks like fun when it’s immobile, just wait until you get in the driver’s seat. The steering and acceleration are both eager and responsive. A firm suspension and easy maneuvering will add some excitement to your daily commute.
The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine wields 160 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. With a notable fuel economy of 26 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway, you may start to forget where your local gas station is.
While the Focus does guarantee a bit of thrill whenever you put the pedal to the metal, you don’t necessarily want your teen driver to do the same. That’s why Ford created MyKey, which allows car owners to program both speed and volume limits depending on who’s driving the car. The SYNC infotainment system is also included, which provides navigation, device pairing, and voice commands.
Try out AppLink and you can access over 60 apps on your smartphone using the SYNC technology. Upgrade to Titanium trim and you’ll get dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, and MyFord Touch.

Base levels of a 2014 Escape are enough to impress, with a standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine that reaches 290 horsepower. Stepping up to the top of the trim levels gets you a powerhouse 350-horsepower, twin-turbo-V-6 Explorer Sport. For the fuel-conscious drivers out there, Ford also released a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 240 horsepower.
2. Luxurious and Comfortable Interior
Designers at Ford have built numerous interior improvements into the 2014 model Explorer. Standard cloth seating, power everything, and a manual tilt/telescoping steering column are just the beginning of what makes this interior luxurious. Plenty of head space and leg room makes a comfortable ride for passengers in any of the seven seats. Limited edition models come with leather trimmed seats while Sport level trim models have perforated leather-trimmed seating to give the interior a more durable feeling.
3. Massive Cargo Capacity
The Explorer takes cargo capacity to new levels, increasing the versatility and capability of the vehicle no matter what you need to haul. With 81 cubic feet of adjustable cargo space available with the rear seats removed, you can store everything you need for all occasions. Even with all three seats in place, the Explorer still retains an impressive 21 cubic feet of cargo room.
4. Competitive Fuel-Economy
Don’t spend more money than necessary at the gas pumps. The standard 2.0L 4-cyl EcoBoost engine has the performance you want with the fuel efficiency you need. With intelligently designed direct injection turbocharging and twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT), a 2014 Explorer utilizes design performance to receive an impressive EPA-estimated 20 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.
5. Top-Notch Safety Ratings
The NHTSA gives the 2014 Ford Explorer a 5-star overall rating. With safety features such as side-mounted airbags, antilock brakes, traction control, and electronic stability control, it doesn’t take much research to see why the Ford Explorer is one of the safest vehicles on the road today.

The people at Ford had comfort in mind when they were designing every inch inside the 2015 Expedition. With seating options for seven or eight people, you can be sure that all of your passengers will be living in the lap of luxury. Read on to see why you should consider a used Ford Expedition for your next SUV.
Not only is there enough room for everyone in the Expedition, there’s also space to spread out. Second-row seats glide and recline to maximize comfort. The 40/20/40-split row has a center seat that can be moved forward to put extra tiny passengers within arm’s reach of nervous parents. You can also opt to have two luxurious captain’s chairs in the second row.
The Blue Oval has put an end to stiff knees for friends over six feet or sibling squabbles over elbow room. Even the third row offers comfortable seating that keeps tall and fussy passengers alike happy. An Edmunds review states that this row can be stowed completely into the floor to allow for more storage room.
If you’re planning the road trip or camping expedition of a lifetime, the Expedition has you covered in terms of cargo space. Behind the third row, the standard version provides a generous 18.6 cubic feet, while the Expedition EL offers a whopping 42.6 cubic feet. Still not enough? Fold down the back two rows of seats and you get 108.3 cubic feet for the regular Expedition and 130.8 for the EL. With that sort of space, you could do a year's worth of grocery shopping in one go.

The 2013 Ford Focus Electric has an impressive estimated driving range of 76 miles, which means folks working a few towns over can easily go to work without needing to recharge. But that’s not all. This superstar sedan also offers the best in luxury, tech features, and safety. Consider a used model for your first electric car.
The Focus Electric runs on a 107-kilowatt electric motor that feeds off a lithium-ion battery pack located in the trunk. It generates 143 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. Recharging the battery takes just four short hours, which can be done at home or at a charging station while you’re out and about.
The Environmental Protection Agency rating is measured in mpge or “miles per gallon equivalent”. Auto Trader explains that the EPA equates 33.7 kilowatt-hours (kW-hrs) to one gallon of gas, giving the Ford Focus Electric a rating of 110 mpge in the city and 99 mpge on the highway. Not too shabby when you consider that even the best sedans only get about 40 mpg on the highway.
Special features include dual-zone automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, and a 9-speaker Sony audio system. The handy Focus Electric mobile app allows you to track your car’s charging status and locate nearby charging stations.
Drivers and passengers can feel safe in the Focus, which gave a standout performance in government crash tests receiving a perfect five-star rating. The very picky Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded it a “Good” rating (the top possible score) in every category, except for small overlap front test for which it received the second highest rating.
